![]() ![]() Which is exactly how the original SimCity was, but it might have been to acknowledge that some advancements in game design theory have occurred in the subsequent 26 years. ![]() There is a lot of fun to be had playing around with the policies and district settings but the game itself is rather standoffish and unstructured. That’s probably what was needed given the damage the actual SimCity did but it does mean that Cities: Skylines can seem rather clinical and unwelcoming. This all seems to be purposeful though, and again a throwback to the series’ roots. No natural disasters is one thing, but unlike the reboot buildings aren’t constantly burning down and as long as you’re paying them the police usually have a reasonable grasp of crime in the city. The flispide to all this power and flexibility though is that Skylines offers little in the way of defined challenge. There have of course been plenty of SimCity clones before, ever since the franchise began more than 25 years ago, but confusingly Cities: Skylines has nothing to do with Cities XL or any of its. Skylines also address the SimCity reboot’s problem of unnecessarily small size restrictions, with your city able to spread out to a massive 36 square km if you choose to buy all the plot extensions. (Colossal Order are Finnish, so the game is often more liberal than the American-made SimCity – if you want it to be that is.) ![]() Policies can be applied to the whole city as well and cover everything from whether you can smoke or not to the local farming laws, and even recreational drug use – as well as the more obvious stuff like taxes. Together with the ability to set district-specific policies it’s then very easy to create working class areas with free public transport or high-end residential areas with strict recycling and green laws. Enclave, Endcycle VS, ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights, Enderal. Districts work like zones but are used to define your own customised boundaries. Chernobylite, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Cities: Skylines, Cliff Empire. Compare it with some 1.000.000 real world cities: Kln. This will put you on a certain path towards success, both financial and citizen-wise.In tandem with zoning your other two most powerful tools are districts and policies. After seeing those threads about km2 and population I decided to do some research (Wikipedia for the win) Imagine the 1,000,000 metropoli in Cities Skylines: Population: 1,000,000. You can specialize your town to link it with other cities in the area. When it comes to management, you need to listen to your citizens in order to find the ideal balance between things like employment, transport, housing, fun and diversity. Be the virtual mayor of your city and cater to the needs of your ever-growing population, deal with energy cuts and lack of transportation with calm and precision, just like a mayor would in real life. The varied terrain and superb detail will surely make you fall in love with these features in a heartbeat. There are a total of 60 impressive maps on which you can start building your future metropolis. With over 1000 buildings to choose from, this game has sure done its homework in the design area, including 50 completely new structures. You can now rely on the tools provided by the game to build cities more impressive than ever. ![]() And remember, Cities XXL is just dogpoo in comparason to this amazing game. You should also check out some Youtubechannels such as Freshpopcorn or Fluxtrance for good gameplay (they realy show us what a great game it actually is). Cities XL Platinum is a game that enables players to design and connect cities of many shapes and sizes all across the planet. Just buy Cities Skylines, It is an overall better game and has a great community for sharing, learning and debating. They say that by building a city, you can shape the entire world around you. ![]()
